-Haydn created the modern form of the classical chamber music period. He composed 83 strings quartets, 45piano trios and a large number of strings trios. String quartet opus 20 number 4 in D mayor you can see the way in wich he changed the chamber music, because the second violin supports the first one and before this composition the second violin was just an accompaniment. His innovations gave haydn the title of " the father of the string quartet".

-Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart extended the chamber music that Haydn had created before him. He composed lots of masterpieces of chamber music. Mozart piano trios and quartets were diferent than haydn's piano trios because in haydn's the violin and the cello were jut accompaniment the piano, but in mozart's the violin and the cello had independent melodies and sound lively. Mozart introduced the clarinet into the chamber music with his composition trio for violin, clarinet and piano k 498. He composed six strings quartets that he dedicated to Haydn, his friend and mentor.

BEETHOVEN AND THE CHAMBER MUSIC

-Beethoven changed the chamber music into a new plane. Beethoven started with three piano trios opus 1. He started composing chamber music when he was 22 years old. He showed his first compositions to Haydn ( Haydn was his teacher) Haydn acepted the first two, but beethoven was not alowed to publish the thirth one. But Haydn was wrong and the thirth piano trio was the most popular of the three compositions. With his 17 string quartets that he composed between 37 and 56 years old he marked the transition from classicism to romanticism. The three opus 59 quartets were composed in the romantic style. Beethoven finally wrote eight piano trios, five string trios, two string quintets. He also composed 10 sonatas for violin and piano and five sonatas for cello and piano. These are his last compositions of chamber music by beethoven.
